Brighton Beach Primary School supports the belief that through Information and Communication Technologies we equip children to participate in a rapidly changing world where work and leisure activities are increasingly transformed by technology. We enable students to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information. We also focus on developing the skills necessary for children to be able to create and use information in a discriminating, effective and creative manner. All our classrooms have access to networked multimedia computers and interactive whiteboards. We also have hubs of computers in the library and senior school collaborative learning centre. Students are privileged to have multiple Netbooks and iPads available to them for classroom use.

Students in the Junior School use the computers to help develop Literacy and Numeracy skills and basic word processing and PowerPoint skills for presentations. We run a 1:1 iPad program in Year 4-6.
The iPad is a powerful tool that supports students to be involved in authentic learning experiences that require researching a wide variety of resources, building effective collaboration skills and communicating with experts and relevant members of our community and the wider world.
Students are not only learning about the topics at hand, but about the power they can have to affect change in our world, and what it means to be a global citizen in an increasingly interconnected world. As part of our student leadership team we have ICT captains. They are responsible for leading a team in researching resources for students and teachers to use, working with staff to implement the eSmart framework, creating a student friendly agreement policy, being experts who work with teachers and students to model and support the use of technology as a tool to enhance learning opportunities, supporting our students and community to be safe and responsible users of technology and communicating with the school community through information nights and our “Digi Smart @ BBPS” site to keep them informed and cyber safe.
